CAMDEN COUNTY TECHNICAL SCHOOLS - POSITION DESCRIPTION

 

 

TITLE:  SUBSTITUTE TEACHER (PER DIEM)

 

QUALIFICATIONS:             

 

1.    A current and valid New Jersey Substitute Certificate or New Jersey Teaching Certificate.

 

2.    Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions.

 

3.    Enjoy working with adolescents; must be child friendly. 

 

 4.   Successfully undergo a criminal history check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal

       resident alien status.

 

5.   Meet the health qualifications required of all personnel.

 

6.   Meets NJ residency requirements or willingness to relocate to NJ within 365 days of employment.

 

7.   Must follow the guidelines of the Camden County Policy, File Code: 0142.1.

 

Interviews are at the discretion of the superintendent and/or designee and based on qualifications for the position.

POSITION GOAL:  To supervise the assigned classroom, or career program directing students to do

                                meaningful activities related to the subject area.  The regular teacher's plans are

                                to be carried out whenever possible.

REPORTS TO:        Principal or designee

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

 1.         Follow information provided from the district through the Substitute Handbook.

 

 2.         Monitor the hall before, after and between class periods where appropriate.

 

3.         Take accurate roll for both school attendance and classroom attendance.

 

4.         Follow teacher's plans as closely as possible; supplement activities when necessary.

 

5.         Interact with students - monitoring their activities and classroom behavior.

 

6.         Maintain a relationship with the class conducive to learning.                                                      

 

7.         Enforce safety habits, rules and regulations.

 

8.         Be punctual and dependable. (Report by time designated in Substitute Handbook)

 

9.         Abide by board policy, administrative regulations and directives, local, state and federal

            laws.

 

10.       Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or designee.
