                                                                                      POSITION DESCRIPTION

 

 

TITLE:  INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNICIAN (PART-TIME)

             PENNSAUKEN CAMPUS 

             

            

 

DEADLINE:  This position will be filled in no less than ten (10) days after the date of this posting.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

1.   Two years of higher education earning 60 or more credit hours or an Associate’s (or higher) degree;

      or having met a rigorous standard of quality, as determined by the New Jersey Department of

      Education, that demonstrates through a formal assessment, knowledge of and the ability to assist in

      reading, writing and mathematics instruction or reading, writing, and mathematics readiness.

 

2.   Hold county substitute teacher certificate or apply for one before start date.

 

3.   Successfully undergo a criminal history check and proof of U.S.

      citizenship or legal resident alien status.

 

4.   Meets the health qualifications required of all personnel.

 

5.   Meets NJ residency requirements or willingness to relocate to NJ within 365 days of employment.

 

6.   Must follow the guidelines of the Camden County Technical Schools’ Nepotism Policy, File Code: 0142.1.

POSITION GOALS:              To assist the teacher or assigned supervisor by working with individual students and groups

                                         of students to achieve responsibilities/objectives related to the position.

 

REPORTS TO:                     Principal

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Clerical Functions for all Instructional Technicians:

 

  1.  File materials.
  1. Maintain list of supplies on hand.
  2. Keep a constant stock of supplies on hand for use.
  1. Maintain records pertaining to distribution and inventory of books, supplies, and equipment.

 

If assigned to a classroom or career area:

 

  1. Correct homework, workbooks, objective tests, and reports results to the teacher.
  1. Prepare instructional materials.
  1. Keep records and charts, such as attendance and seating.
  1. Assist with supervision of students in safe and proper use of tools.
  1. Assist with school related activities.
  1. Set up and operate equipment.
  1. Set up learning areas and arrange instructional materials for accessibility.
  1. Assist with supervision of student cleanup time and maintain bulletin boards.
  1. Keep classroom/career area appropriately maintained.
  1. Maintain arrangement and storage of classroom/career area furniture and instructional materials.
  1. Provide feedback to teacher on encounters with students.
  1. Assist with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies and field trips.
  1. Assist with supervision of students’ activities as directed by teacher.
  1. Present materials as requested by teacher.
  2. Present materials within students’ comprehension.
  1. Exercise control over areas of responsibilities and relate well with students.
  1. Work with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills initiallyintroduced by the teacher.
  1. Assist the teacher in devising strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on an understanding of individual students, their needs, interests and abilities; assist the teacher in fulfillment of IEP or 504 requirements.                                                         
  1. Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students.
  1. Maintain confidentiality regarding students’ information.
  1. Perform all other duties as assigned by the principal or designee.

If assigned to Admissions:

 

  1. Maintain a working knowledge of the district admissions procedures, policies, and all career program offerings, as well as school rules, policies, and procedures.
  1. Maintain a working relationship with the sending schools’ guidance departments, counselors, and child study team members, to familiarize them with the admissions procedures.
  1. Orient students to relevant school policies at the beginning of each visit/session.
  1. Help set-up and participate in Parents’ Night, Open House, and other recruitment/admissions events, including providing student recruitment presentations for public and private schools. This may include some evenings and/or weekends.
  1. Assist students in making meaningful occupational choices.
  1. Schedule and supervise the busing of the eighth graders to and from their districts to CCTS.
  1. Tour individuals as needed at both campuses.
  1. Supervise the lunch coverage and/or meals for the students visiting.
  1. Confirm appointments for students touring, testing, and auditioning.
  1. Test or assist in testing applicants and our current students as needed during the day and/or evening.
  1. Assist in Admissions Office obtaining records, contacting parents, etc., as needed.
  1. Assist the Admissions Office with deliveries, set up for school events, mailings, etc., whenever needed on both the Gloucester Township and Pennsauken campuses.
  1. Maintain confidentiality regarding students' Information.
  1. Perform other duties as assigned.
