                                                                         POSITION DESCRIPTION

 

 

TITLE:     MAINTENANCE MECHANICS - FULL-TIME

               GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP CAMPUS

 

 QUALIFICATIONS:      

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.

    2.  Blue Seal and/or Black Seal License preferred (or willingness to obtain).

 

    3.  Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

 

    4.  Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.

 

    5.  Physical strength, dexterity, and ability to do manual work.

 

    6.  Experience and background in Plumbing/HVAC/R preferred.

 

    7.  Valid New Jersey Driver’s License.

 

    8.   Successfully undergo a criminal history check and proof of U.S.

          citizenship or legal resident alien status.

 

    9.   Meets the health qualifications required of all personnel.

 

  10.   Meets NJ residency requirements or willingness to relocate

          to NJ within 365 days of employment.

 

  11.   Must follow the guidelines of the Camden County Technical Schools'

          Nepotism Policy, File Code: 0142.1.

POSITION GOALS:    To provide students and staff with a safe, attractive, clean, comfortable and efficiently

REPORTS TO:           Chief Buildings and Grounds Officer

 

PERFORMANCE

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

     1.      Performs walk-through inspections of all facilities to locate damage and required repairs.  Inspects buildings

              and grounds for wear, damage, required service, and fire or safety hazards.

  1.     Performs plumbing repairs and new installations such as replacing washers, faucets, sinks, toilets, clearing drains,             caulking fixtures, repairing flush valves, installing PVC, copper and steel piping etc.
  1.     Performs electrical repairs and new installations such as changing ballasts, and replacing and installing receptacles,           switches, running wires etc.
  1.     Performs repairs to walls, floors, ceilings, doors, windows, roofs, air handling units or as needed on campus.
  1.     Performs general carpentry and masonry repairs and installations.
  1.     Performs snow removal and salting tasks.
  1.     Performs preventive maintenance tasks including cleaning, lubricating, and adjusting on a scheduled basis.
  1.     Maintains required documentation on work order system of service or tasks performed.
  1.     Observes applicable safety rules, practices and regulations.
  1.     Monitors maintenance work performed by contractors/vendors as directed by the Chief Buildings and Grounds Officer         and advises of unusual conditions or problems.
  1.     Performs other duties such as moving, delivering, and assembling furniture and equipment.
  1.     Assists in maintaining the inventory of district-owned equipment, material and supplies.
  1.     Assumes other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Chief Buildings and Grounds Officer or designee.

 

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:           

 

Requires sitting, standing, bending, stooping, reaching, and climbing ladders.  May require lifting up to 40 pounds or more.  Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard construction and maintenance tools and machines such as hammers, screwdrivers, electrical drills, shovels, grinders, wrenches, pipe cutters, benders and threaders and office equipment.
