                                                                      POSITION DESCRIPTION

 

 

TITLE:  SUPERVISOR OF CURRICULUM INSTRUCTION AND ASSESSMENT

           GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP AND PENNSAUKEN CAMPUSES

            

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

1.   Valid New Jersey Supervisor Standard Certificate/Certificate of Eligibility.

2.   Teaching certificate for at least one of the subject areas assigned:

      Mathematics/Science, English Language Arts (ELA), Social Studies,

      World Language and CTE.

3.   At least five years instructional experience.

4.   Demonstrate ability to work effectively in the areas of curriculum and instruction,

      school administration and supervision of programs and staff.

5.   Strong leadership and communication skills.

6.   Successfully undergo a criminal history check and proof of U.S. citizenship

      or legal resident alien status.

7.   Meets the health qualifications required of all personnel.

8.   Meets NJ residency requirements or willingness to relocate to NJ within

      365 days of employment.

9.   Must follow the guidelines of the Camden County Technical Schools’ Nepotism

      Policy, File Code: 0142.1.

POSITION GOALS:     Supervise, manage and make recommendations for professional

                              teaching practices ensuring alignment to state-wide proficiency

                              assessments.  Provide on-going support and assistance to

                              academic and CTE teachers as part of the district's focus on overall

                              improvement of student achievement.  Keep district curriculum up to

                              date.  Represent department(s) concerning all matters relating to

                              budgets for the department(s).

 

REPORTS TO:           Director of Teaching, Learning, and Assessment.

 

PERFORMANCE

RESPONSIBILITIES:    

 

Administration:        Facilitation of Student Assessment & Date

 

                              1.  Coordinate year-long student benchmark and CTE testing.

 

                              Leadership

 

                              1.  Attend regularly scheduled meetings with other subject area

                                   supervisors to plan and monitor programs and ensure

                                   continuous improvement efforts.

 

                              2.  Conduct and facilitate department and PLC meetings for the

                                   purpose of curriculum articulation and cross-curricular

                                   articulation.

 

                              Program Monitoring

 

                              1.  Review on a weekly basis the lesson plans of subject area

                                   department personnel for correlation to the scope and

                                   sequence of testing standards in district curriculums and

                                   provide supportive feedback to assist with planning.

 

Curriculum:             Curriculum Content & Revision

 

                              1.  Keep all curriculum up-to-date and communicate needs for

                                   revising curriculum with assistance from the Director of

                                   Teaching, Learning, and Assessment.

 

                              2.  Facilitate curriculum writing/revision procedures and coordinate 

                                   with teachers writing new curricula for each subject area.

 

                              Curriculum Implementation

 

                               1.  Work with teachers and supervisors from other departments to

                                    develop and correlate curriculum, share best practices, and

                                    participate in planning district-wide, subject-specific training.

 

                               2.  Serve as a resource to subject-specific department teachers

                                    on the components and content of the statewide standards and

                                    any proficiency test in their assigned areas.

 

                               3.  Provide for the development, implementation, and analysis of

                                    strategies to assure that annual student state assessment

                                    achievement targets are met or exceeded.

 

Staff Development:   New Teachers

 

                               1.  Assist beginning teachers and substitutes with the

                                    development of student-centered strategies to assure

                                    achievement of district goals.

 

                               Teachers in Need of Growth

 

                               1.  Provide assistance for identified teachers to address areas in

                                    need of improvement or growth.

 

                               General Staff Development & Growth

 

                               1.  Model instructional techniques for teachers in a classroom and

                                    inservice settings.

 

                               2.  Provide training to teachers in cross-content areas focusing on

                                    tested subjects.

 

                               Standardized Assessment Support

 

                               1.  Provide for the development, implementation, and analysis of

                                    strategies to assure that annual state assessment

                                    achievement targets are met or exceeded.

 

                               2.  Assist classroom teacher with the identification and

                                    implementation of techniques for measuring and assessing

                                    student progress on a regular and ongoing basis.

  

Evaluation:               1.  Formally and informally observe, evaluate, and give feedback

                                    to teachers within all departments.

 

Finance:                   1.  Assist teachers in subjects assigned to you in preparing budget

                                    requests and requisitions.

 

Other:                      1.  Serve as a standing member of both the district-wide and

                                    school-wide assessment, instruction, and improvement teams.

 

                               2.  Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Teaching, Learning, 

                                    and Assessment in collaboration with the principals.
