                     POSITION DESCRIPTION

 

 

TITLE:          ATHLETIC TRAINER - PART TIME

                    2023-2024 SCHOOL YEAR

                    GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP CAMPUS

                   

  Deadline:  This position will be filled in no less than ten (10) days after the date of this posting.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:             

 

1.  A valid New Jersey Department of Education Athletic Trainer certificate.

 

2.  Willingness to be flexible with schedule.

 

3.  Strong interpersonal and communications skills.

 

4.  Ability to communicate with parents/guardians. 

 

5.  Successfully undergo a criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien                         status.           

 

6.  Meets the health qualifications of all personnel.

 

7.  Meets NJ residency requirements and willingness to relocate to NJ within 365 days of employment.

 

8.  Must follow the guidelines of the Camden County Technical Schools' Nepotism Policy, File Code: 0142.1.

 

Interviews are at the discretion of the superintendent and/or designee and based on qualifications for the position.

POSITION GOALS:              To provide “Athletic Training Services” to student athletes at Pennsauken Campus under the

                                        direction of the school physician, and in accordance with the NJ State Athletic Training Practice

                                        Act.

 

                                       Athletic Training Services is the management and provision of care to a physically active person

                                       as defined in the state practice act with the direction of a licensed physician.  The term includes

                                       the rendering of emergency care, development of injury prevention programs and providing                                                 appropriate preventative and devices for the physically active person.  The term also includes the

                                       assessment, management, treatment, rehabilitation and recondition of the physically active person

                                       whose conditions are within the professional preparation and education of a certified athletic

                                       trainer.  The term also includes the modalities such as mechanical stimulation, heat, cold, light,

                                       air, water, electricity, sound, massage and the use of therapeutic exercises, reconditioning

                                       exercises and fitness programs.

 

REPORTS TO:    Athletic director on campus.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1.   Maintain appropriate general treatment orders to be reviewed annually and approved by the school physician.  

 

  2.   Provide athletic training services during the Fall, Winter and Spring seasons.       

 

  3.   Act as liaison between physicians and specialists, the school district, athletes and their parents.

 

  4.   Facilitate accurate records of injuries, treatments and provide accident forms for sports injuries treated by a physician.

 

  5.   Develop and maintain a budget for the athletic training program.

 

  6.   Maintain a good working relationship with the faculty, student body and coaching staff.

 

  7.   Counsel and advise athletes, faculty and coaches pertaining to conditioning, nutrition and in the case of injury, rehabilitation.     

 

  8.   Maintain medical kits for each season and supplies and re-supplies items contained in the kits.      

 

  9.   Participate in and attend relevant conferences and workshops to maintain and enhace professional competence in accordance

        with district guidelines and budget allocations.

 

10.   Inservice and train coaches and other personnel regarding NJSIAA rules and regulations regarding athletic injuries.

                                               

11.  Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Directors.
